Finally…the perfect day for a shoot! It usually takes some effort to find good lighting outside, but on this day the light was so soft everywhere we went. Angela and Josh are getting married this fall. I always look forward to my November weddings because the weather is mild and the foliage is stunning…It’s the perfect time of year for a North Carolina wedding. Angela and I went back and forth on engagement session locations. We finally settled on uptown. I’m glad we did because the location was the perfect compliment to their personalities!

We spent Labor Day weekend in Charleston, where I met up with Anna and Jett for their engagement session. I tried to convince Chad to join me during the shoot since I got him a 40D for his birthday last year, but he was more interested in laying out on the beach. I love being behind the camera so I schedule sessions even during vacation. It’s the computer-related work that is agonizing! I gladly leave the PC behind but the camera goes everywhere. The humidity in Charleston was unbelievable! The poor palm trees look a little haggard! We had fun running all over the city, despite the heat. Thanks to Anna and Jett for missing the first half of the game for our shoot! ;)

It seems that the third weekend in June is the most popular wedding date among teachers. Blaire got dibs on the date for ‘09. You will be seeing more of these two next summer, but this may be the last time you see one of my favorite locations! The weather finally cooperated for us and everything was going as planned…and then along came a 6-foot-long snake! I froze when I saw it at my feet. Blaire and Bucky were right behind me. After it slithered into the weeds, I expected them to be ready to move on to the next location, but instead they told me it was “just” a black snake. Just? It was taller than I am!! LOL…a few from their session:

I am so thankful that Dana and Richard’s engagement session didn’t get rained out! They drove all the way from Raleigh. It didn’t start raining until after we finished their session. It has rained 7 out of 8 Saturdays recently! Many of my April sessions have been postponed. When I met with Dana last year, Richard was in Afghanistan. He has already served over 20 years in the military. Dana and I both spent a few years in the military so we all have that in common. These two are adorable together…here are a few favorites:

We had to reschedule Stacy and Jamey’s session at least 4 times because of rain. We finally chose the right date! We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. I normally wear comfie shoes during shoots, but Stacy is so tall - I had to pull out the high-heeled boots for this shoot. I was limping up the front steps by the time I got home. I couldn’t wait to get out of those boots! I always suggest bringing flip-flops and bottled water to shoots, because we will definitely be doing a lot of walking. Stacy has the most amazing legs- if I had half her legs, my wardrobe would consist of skirts and more skirts! =) Here are a few favorites:

Tonya and Matthew are getting married at the Belk Chapel in October. I waited for weeks after our consultation to find out if they were going to book me because they had scheduled meetings with other photographers. I was so excited when Tonya got in touch to let me know t/ they had made their decision! It’s great to be able to work with people who are fun and easygoing. We actually live in the same neighborhood. I love the Huntersville area - everyone is so friendly! Here are a few favorites:

Matt proposed to Magan in Blowing Rock, one of my favorite towns. It is so charming and quaint! If you have never been, you should definitely check it out during the fall season. We photographed their engagement session the week that I went on vacation so they had to wait until I returned to view their gallery. I can’t thank them enough for their patience! =) I love the beat up old truck we came across during the session! Here are a few favorites:

I met Kristen, her mom, and Perry at the beginning of the year. We had a lot of laughs during the consultation; I was thrilled when they decided to book me for their October wedding. Several months after meeting, we discovered that Kristen’s mom works at my attorney’s office- what a small world! Here are a few images from their engagement session. As you can see, these two couldn’t take a bad picture if they tried!

Thanks to Crystal and David for being patient with me during their engagement shoot! We had to wait until it got dark to go to the fair. We thought it would be a great idea to get on the ferris wheel together for pictures but it didn’t work out so well! I would see them for 2 seconds and then they were gone! We managed to get plenty of great images anyway. I only regret that I forgot to get cotton candy before we left!
