Brittany was a natural in front of the camera with her gorgeous smile. We had originally scheduled her session last fall, but we were rained out so many times that we moved it to spring. I’m glad we were able to take advantage of spring flowers in some of her pictures. I was also excited to finally have the opportunity to photograph a session at an abandoned building I found months ago. They always make the best locations! :)

Charlotte NC Senior Portrait Photography - Brittany
Charlotte NC Senior Pictures - Austin
As you all know, I absolutely love working with seniors! They have a style of their own. Austin was no different! I had a great time photographing his senior portraits and getting to know a little about him. After graduation, he plans to pursue degrees in International Business and Spanish. I’m sure he will succeed at anything he puts his mind to…a few favorites from his senior portrait session:

Senior Portraits Charlotte, NC - Samantha
I just love it when I stumble upon vintage cars during a senior portrait session! And I get so excited to find new nooks and crannies during a shoot. We came across a few new spots during Samantha’s session. The blue backgrounds really brought out her unique eye color- she has the most amazing blue-green eyes! A few faves from her senior portrait session:

Charlotte senior pictures- Jessica
Sooo Jessica’s shoot was rained out not once, not twice, but grrrr… THREE times! She decided to fit in her senior portrait session with me (yay!) before heading back to VA to complete her senior year. When we rescheduled for the second time, the weather was perfect, but the moment I broke out the camera, you guessed it- rain! We were forced to go to the studio. I know how disappointed I would be if my senior portraits were rained out…so we set up a 3rd session a few days before she left for VA. We got a few outdoor shots before it started raining yet again.
This experience totally reminded me of working with one of my past brides- Magan. Every time we scheduled anything together, it rained! I lost count of how many times we had to reschedule her bridal portraits. It even rained on her wedding day. I think I need to get back to my Cherokee roots and take up some Native American weather-dancing. If I’m clucking in blue feathers and turquoise the next time you see me, you’ll know why. =p

Shelby Senior Portraits Charlotte, NC
I had an amazing time with Shelby and her mom Kasey during her senior portrait shoot! I love her funky style. I had to get a close-up of her Chuck Taylors-remember when everyone rocked them in the early 90’s? I loooooved my plaid high-tops in Jr. High. =) I had a zillion favorites from her session but there’s no way I can fit them all into a blog entry so here are just a few:

Gorgeous…just gorgeous!!

Love the pop of red in this image!

Sorry Shelby- I had to include this one…so cute!

It’s Official!
I just can’t keep it to myself any longer! Thanks to everyone who voted! There were 203 total votes. In the last few hours it came down to design #20 and design #72. I was torn between several designs. Your votes really helped me narrow it down! I had to share the final decision with you tonight…..The more I look at it, the more I love it! I’ll be tweaking the colors, but I think this one captures exactly what I was going for…but even better!

Chloe Senior Portraits Charlotte NC
This has been a busy summer for senior portraits!! I’m going to try to get a few sessions on the blog within the next week starting with Chloe! We had a fabulous time shooting her senior portraits at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Belmont. She and her family moved here from Pennsylvania. She will be finishing her senior year at Concord’s Cannon School, where they actually assign homework throughout the summer months! We roasted during her 90 degree session, but still managed to get a ton of great shots. A few favorites:

For this one, I added a border, texture, and a peach fill at 40% opacity. Last summer, I was considering purchasing a vintage-inspired Bludomain website that would only shine with textured, vintage-y (is that a word?!) images. I would have had to convert all of my images. I came SO close to buying that website, but I changed my mind when I met Keith and Amie with KA Videography Studio at the Charlotte bridal show. (Check them out if you are looking for a videographer!) They had the same website, so I kept searching for something unique. I finally found it and couldn’t be happier….but now I have all of these vintage looks that I need to put to use more often! This one wasn’t a family favorite at the viewing session, but I like it….just for something a little different =)

Ashley Lake Norman senior pictures
I have had a ton of blog traffic this month! I have a gazillion weddings, engagements, and bridals to blog but I’m swamped with wedding season right now so the blog is being neglected. I’m trying to update the blog every Friday during the summer so keep checking back! For now, here are a few favorites from Ashley’s senior portrait session in April- isn’t she stunning!?

Brooklyn Lake Norman senior portraits
More senior portrait fun with Brooklyn last month…have I said how much I love working with seniors?! =)

Senior Portraits Charlotte, NC with Alyse
A few more from Alyse’s senior portrait session. We got so much variety, I had trouble narrowing them down! Where I grew up, everyone hired an independent photographer for their senior portraits. The schools even allowed modern senior portraits in the yearbook verses the traditional shots taken by the school photographer. We had to pose for the boring school headshots, but nobody purchased them. Who wants pictures that look like everybody else’s?!
I wish senior portraits would catch on here the way they have in the Midwest because I adore photographing these sessions! I always get the shots that mom loves, along with more adventurous shots that show some personality. I’m running a senior portrait promotion through the summer. Email me for all the details on how you can save on your session!

When my daughter saw this one, she was sure that I had photographed Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana!
