Lifestyle portraits

Lifestyle sessions are so much fun! Last month, Ashley and Matt invited me into their home to photograph their beautiful family. Emory and Hagen are absolutely precious! I had so much fun trying to keep up with Emory; she is a whirlwind! Her cinnamon curls were too cute! In-home sessions are unquestionably the way to go for family sessions. It’s so much easier to draw kids out in their own environment verses a studio environment. We played on the swing set, jumped on the bed, and blew bubbles to capture a lot of personality! Here are a few favorites from their session:

BrannicMartin Realtors

Who says that realtor headshots have to be boring?! Brandy and Greg wanted images that were a little out of the ordinary for their website and marketing materials. Both have been realtors in the Charlotte and Lake Norman area for years. Look them up if you are in the market for a new house…They are definitely passionate about what they do!

Portrait party with bellydancers!

I was so excited when Lisa contacted me to schedule a photo shoot with her bellydancing troupe. Some of you may recognize Lisa - I have her bridal portraits all over my brochures and website. She and Steve are one of my awesome 2007 couples. I had SO MUCH FUN during this shoot! I shoot on-location 90% of the time so it was a nice change of pace to work in the studio.

We went through so many background changes and costumes, I had a hard time narrowing them down for the blog! Each dancer has a distinctive look and personality, but all are oh so glamorous! Don’t these pictures just make you want to get dressed up and learn to shimmy!? You can get your own unique costumes at the Belly Dance Shop and enroll in classes with Yasmine to get started. I could probably fill up the blog with favorites, but here is a tiny sample for now:

Emma’s Birthday

Our next door neighbors, Clay and Jen, celebrated Emma’s first birthday over the weekend. It’s amazing how much she has grown! Chad and I saw Emma for the first time in the NICU at the hospital. I was struck at how tiny her feet were then- one foot was about the size of my thumb. She has come so far!

She still looks just like daddy. It was funny when Jen came home with the first ultrasound pictures- even then she looked like a little Clay! Her birthday cake from Hansel and Gretel Bakery was ADORABLE! It was modeled after her favorite toy. They did such a good job. The cake was moist and DElicious - I would highly recommend them for birthdays or weddings!

Here are a few snaps I took:….oh and yes- that is a mohawk! Clay thinks it’s funny to style her hair like that! =D

Her birth announcement….wow has she grown!!

Zoe’s announcement Lake Norman newborn photography

Zoe

I finally made it to Greenville to take Zoe’s pictures last weekend. When I arrived, Ashley gave me a little gift bag full of spa items. I was so surprised and excited– there is nothing like getting a gift when you least expect it! I offered Chad a foot rub with the pedicure lotion, he attempted a feeble protest but he gave in (as I knew he would! teehee)…Thanks Ash! Zoe is a total cutie-patootie! I adore the one of her sleeping below.

Emma’s announcement

We started with a few designs, but this one ended up being the favorite:

Ariel

Ariel needed headshots for marketing material. She wanted something a little different from the typical realtor headshots. We had a lot of fun shooting these on-location at Lake Norman. We got a good laugh out of doing a few traditional realtor poses- arms crossed over chest, hands on hips, etc! Her husband Dave brought their boxers out for a few pictures. If you are in the market for a house or property in the Lake Norman area, definitely look up Ariel at Remax at the Lake. You won’t find a more personable realtor. I enjoyed her company so much- she made me want to buy a house. =)

Seth

Seth warmed up to the camera more quickly than any little one I have ever worked with! He is so adorable with his dimples and big blue eyes- I think he resembles the Gerber baby! =) Towards the end of the session, he was over it so we let him chill out for a few minutes on the couch. I love his expression in the last one!

Emma Rose

When our next door neighbors and good friends, Clay and Jen, showed us the ultrasound images of Emma several months ago- we were amazed to see that she looked just like daddy so early on! Emma weighed in at just over 3 lbs when she was born in March. Now at barely 6 lbs, she is strong as can be! I warned Clay and Jen beforehand to expect to get peed on during the session…as soon as Clay took Emma from Jen, she peed allover his pants…LOL! We were able to get some adorable pictures, so it was definitely worth it! I love the little bloomers with her name on them - she is so tiny; they just swallowed her up! Here are a few favorites:
