I had sooo much fun with Hali and Mark!! Hali chose the most unique cake ever! She incorporated zebra print into all the details of the day, including the cake and tuxes. I was excited when I found the ugliest building near the reception…Hali is not traditional at all- I knew she would love it! A few pics from the big day:

Funniest shot ever…! And I didn’t even set it up :)

Charlotte Wedding Photographer - Hali & Mark married
Congrats to Laura and Justin!
I want to post a few quick blog entries this morning before I leave for today’s wedding in Raleigh….it has been a crazy, busy summer of weddings! Laura and Justin were married at Antioch Lutheran Church. Their reception followed at Deerbrook Country Club. Everything came together beautifully, despite a downpour and 100 degree weather! ….just a few pictures for now:

Wedding Dress Trunk Shows
If you are still looking for the perfect wedding dress, you might consider heading to Atlanta this weekend. There are several trunk shows featuring Demetrios, Casablanca, Priscilla of Boston, and Monique Lhuillier. Trunk shows travel throughout the country to allow customers to preview new styles and to see a larger variety of dresses than what most bridal salons carry. Special incentives and discounts are sometimes applied to purchases. I’m planning to make the Demetrios trunk show on Saturday…maybe I’ll see some of you there! :)

Charlotte NC wedding photographer- Jessica and Ryan are married!
Jessica and Ryan had a spring wedding at Trinity Wesleyan church in Salisbury. Their wedding colors, sage and chocolate brown, couldn’t have been more perfect for the outdoor pictures at the church. Some of my favorite pictures of the day were taken nearby at a golden field that I couldn’t resist photographing. Jessica and Ryan didn’t even give it a second thought when I suggested wading through the weeds for the bride and groom session. It’s wonderful to work with couples who trust me and are willing to do whatever it takes! Some highlights from the day:

I had to share the sweetest email…!
I recently received this email after delivering Ashley and Patrick’s wedding album. They were married at St. Peters Catholic Church and had their reception at the Marriott City Center uptown on Trade Street. Their wedding theme was Carolina Blue- everything came together beautifully! It means so much to me that Ashley took the time to send this email. The part of my job that I love the most is making people happy by delivering exceptional products and services! :) Ashley and Patrick went with a flush-mount leather album with a modern acrylic photo cover.
Kate,
I absolutely LOVE the album. I mean love it, love it, love it. I am thrilled and cannot
wait to show everyone this weekend. What perfect timing! :-) I’m hoping Patrick will get
me a smaller album of my bridal portraits for our anniversary so I’m sure we will be in
touch! Hope you have a good weekend and thank you so much for your hard work in creating
this amazing album. The finished product is my favorite part of your work! I have
noticed every detail. The resolution on the photos is awesome as well as the touch ups
and deletions of unwanted items (especially the white item that was on the ground of the
very last page of the album)! Every last detail is much appreciated and does not go
unnoticed! :)
Thank you very, very much!
Ashley

The Knot Best of NC wedding photographers 2010 pick
What better way to get back to blogging in 2010 than with the wonderful news I received last November! A representative from the Knot Magazine called to tell me that I had been selected as one of their 2010 picks for best NC wedding photographers. Only five other Charlotte wedding photographers made the list. Check out the current issue of the Knot NC magazine to find top-rated venues, florists, cakes, etc! :)

Recent Charlotte weddings
I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing couples this year! I still have a couple of weddings to photograph before the season officially comes to an end. When that happens, I’ll be blogging my buns off to get caught up! In the meantime, here are a few images from recent weddings:

Finished photo calendar
I like the way the calendar can be folded into a neat little square. It was the perfect size for a small gift bag.

DIY Calendar Project
Thought I would share a little diy project I created for myself last spring. Let me preface this by saying that I am no Martha Stewart. There is not a single crafty bone in my body! I don’t know why I thought I could pull this off (mistake #1). After I designed the pages of the calendar, I thought the hard work was behind me (mistake #2). I printed the calendar before I found something to mount it on (mistake #3). I thought it would be a quick and easy gift (mistake #4). I started this project about a week before the wedding with the intention of giving it as a wedding gift (mistake #5). Knowing my track record with crafts, I should have started at least a month before the wedding!
I envisioned a cute, little desk calendar….I spent about 2 hours wandering around Michael’s looking for materials that would make it work. I finally stumbled upon cork squares that were just the right size…but they were really thick so the desk calendar idea had to be scratched. I decided that maybe a hanging calendar would work. I bought ribbon to tie between the cork pieces. When I got home, I was pretty sure that I had it all figured out…..until I tried to punch holes in the cork for the ribbon. Using a small paper puncher to punch holes in cork - not a good idea! I had to enlist Chad’s help for that step. Finally, I had to figure out how to adhere the prints to the cork. I used 3 types of glue on each one to make sure that they were going nowhere. I finished up within minutes of running out the door to Nikki and Brian’s wedding. Take a look and let me know what ‘cha think!
