Dana & Rich Salisbury Country Club wedding

Dana and Rich were married at the Salisbury Country Club last month. I was thankful that the dressing room was decorated nicely because I spent a lot of time there! It took exactly one hour and 5 people to get Dana’s dress in place…During that time, I had a lot of fun finding new angles and playing off the mirrors that decorated the room. Dana’s niece, Mira Rachel, was adorable…check out the smiles she elicited!

Dana and Rich have the warmest families. I left their wedding wondering why families only get together like this to celebrate weddings. When I got home, I told Chad that we should get our families together for a night of music, food, and fun. He asked me what we would call it on the invitations….Hmmm.

Matt and Magan Kannapolis wedding

It seems like every time Magan and I get together it rains! We had to reschedule her engagement and bridal portraits SO many times. There was a torrential downpour during the ceremony, but it definitely didn’t inhibit the mood! Everyone remained in high spirits and the celebration continued! Matt and Magan shared the sweetest private moment before the ceremony. I felt so privileged to be there to capture it. There was so much love in the room! It’s obvious that these two were meant for each other.
Magan’s bridesmaids put so much heart into their gift to her! They filled a scrapbook with personal
stories and pictures:

Carlyn and Josh

Carlyn and Josh had a fabulous wedding at the Havana Social Club earlier this month. After weeks of rain, there were only blue skies and sunshine. I loved the heels Carlyn’s bridesmaids wore in the wedding. I’ve been told that some brides intentionally choose unflattering bridesmaid dresses and shoes, but that definitely wasn’t the case with Carlyn! She and Josh are a beautiful couple, inside and out. It was wonderful to be a part of their day. Many of the guests were professional dancers (and limbo-ers!) so the reception was lively to say the least! Here are a few favorites:

Katie and Jon

Katie and Jon planned a destination wedding in Jamaica. I covered their reception when they returned. Their wedding pictures were displayed at the reception- the Caribbean setting was absolutely gorgeous! What a romantic way to tie the knot! We were a little limited in what we could do because of the rain. The kids were having a BLAST! During the family formals, the little one below refused to crack a smile….once she had a cupcake in hand, she was all smiles! My favorite from the night has to be the one of Katie and Jon on the dancefloor:

Stephanie and Bob

I checked the weather forecast constantly the week of Stephanie and Bob’s wedding. It had been raining all week and they were calling for severe thunderstorms that Saturday. I was prepared for the worst but the sun broke through just in time!

I always tell clients to be prepared for something to go wrong on the wedding day. It may be a tiny detail or it could be something major. I have covered weddings where the cake was dropped in the parking lot, the transportation service makes the entire bridal party late to the wedding, wedding rings are left at home…I could go on and on! I love it when my couples can roll with the punches and not allow anything to ruin their day.

Luckily, there was only a tiny mistake made during Stephanie and Bob’s day. During the ceremony the officiant said, “Repeat after me: I, Bob, take you Stephanie to be my lawfully wedded husband.” I don’t think anyone noticed until Bob repeated it verbatim. As he said husband, everyone burst into laughter. You can see one image below where everyone was trying to recompose themselves! LOL!

Send me your Save the Dates!

Our refrigerator is cluttered with Jillian’s art, pictures, coupons, to-do lists….you name it and it is there! I just received a save the date from Amanda and Chris that I put next to Steve and Lisa’s. I would love to add to my collection so please think of me when it comes time to mail your save the dates! =D

Lisa in Carolina Bride magazine!

My sister called me to ask if I had a picture in Carolina Bride a few nights ago. I told her that I didn’t. She said that after someone saw Lisa’s bridal portrait hanging on the wall at the studio, she said she had seen the same image in the magazine. I didn’t believe it! Chad and I were having dinner at PF Changs that night (I love that place!). We stopped by Barnes and Noble on the way home to take a peek at the magazine. I was so excited to see Lisa’s picture featured in their wedding album section. They usually reserve this space and the cover for advertisers that spend thousands of dollars with them. =)

Lauren & Luther John wedding Salisbury, NC

Lauren and Luther John couldn’t have chosen a more perfect wedding date to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors! So many couples plan fall weddings in October, hoping for beautiful foliage but in my experience October is a little early in the Charlotte area. If you want beautiful fall images, mid or late November is totally worth the wait. The horse and carriage was such a nice touch. I’ve been told that Luther John, a large animal vet, takes good care of the gorgeous horse pictured. Lauren is passionate about horses so these two couldn’t have found a better match! We even incorporated her horses into her bridal portrait. They came out beautifully. Here are some of my favorites:

Stephanie and Mark at Belk Chapel in Charlotte, NC

Stephanie and Mark were married at the Belk Chapel at Queens University last month. I was so excited when I realized I was going to have time to sneak up to the balcony during the ceremony! After the ceremony, the bridesmaids and groomsmen had a “jump-off”…The guys definitely won that one, but they weren’t wearing heels! =) Stephanie has the thickest most beautiful hair- it stayed in place the entire day! Here a few favorites from the day:
