Our Destination Wedding in May at the Westin Aruba

We fell in love with Aruba and each other on our first vacation there in 2006. After 4 years of dating, Chad proposed while we were on vacation in Aruba in April 2010. There was really no discussion about the location of our wedding. We quickly agreed that Aruba was the place. The beaches are beautiful and less crowded than other Caribbean destinations, the water is gentle and clear, and the hotels are within walking distance of shopping and great restaurants. We hosted our welcome dinner at Gianni’s Italian restaurant. The service was amazing and the food was so delicious, we went back for dinner there a second night. Our wedding coordinators at the Westin, Darienne and Inge, were wonderful. They were very responsive to emails during the planning stage and they did everything they could to make us happy during our stay. We invited only 25 of our family and friends. I wouldn’t have done it any other way! For wedding favors, we booked a snorkel excursion for our guests. Snorkeling was a big hit- we all had a great time! Thanks to my sister Heather for capturing the big day and for talking me into a trash the dress session, when all I really wanted to do was relax with a pina colada on the beach! Thanks to my mom for getting some great shots throughout the night. Thanks to J Majors in Charlotte for working with me to find the perfect dress. I’m really happy with the way everything came together…looking forward to our next trip to Aruba! :)

Two words to describe Courtney and Tim’s wedding: classically beautiful. From the dress to the flowers to the table settings, everything was timeless and elegant. Lush roses, lilies, hydrangeas, and other assorted flowers cascaded down the arbor and filled the garden to provide an incomparable setting for their summer wedding. Not only is Courtney absolutely gorgeous, but she is also kind, down-to-earth, and dedicated to helping others through a career in medicine. I enjoyed spending time with Courtney, Tim, and their families. We got so many incredible images- I couldn’t narrow them down to only a few! :)

Wedding invitations and address stamps from Etsy

Our wedding date is just around the corner in May…I am so unprepared for it! I finally got around to ordering invitations. I was going to make my own using envelopments, but really…who has the time!?! I found a seller on Etsy who creates gorgeous, handmade invitations. Sandy’s designs are amazing! I had sooo much fun with Hali and Mark!! Hali chose the most unique cake ever! She incorporated zebra print into all the details of the day, including the cake and tuxes. I was excited when I found the ugliest building near the reception…Hali is not traditional at all- I knew she would love it! A few pics from the big day:

I want to post a few quick blog entries this morning before I leave for today’s wedding in Raleigh….it has been a crazy, busy summer of weddings! Laura and Justin were married at Antioch Lutheran Church. Their reception followed at Deerbrook Country Club. Everything came together beautifully, despite a downpour and 100 degree weather! ….just a few pictures for now:

North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue- Spotlight on Kiki

My heart goes out to animals who have been abused. If I could take them all in, I would! I’m hoping that if I share the story of Kiki, someone will give her a good home:

KiKi is sweet and playful 4 year old. She gets along well with other dogs and people. She loves to snuggle. She is house/crate trained and does well on a leash. She does come with a few life scars. Her ears were cut off with scissors and she has a large scar all the way around her neck from a collar. But you would never know how badly she has been mistreated from the loving girl you see now. Kiki is heartworm negative and on preventative, spayed, and up to date on shots. Adoption fee is $100.
